Where to find parts for Silvertone #1490 bass guitar?
I have a 1969 Silvertone #1490 bass guitar that needs new pickup selector switches and a cover for the bridge and maybe a few more things. Does anyone know where to find any parts for this bass? I don't mind if it is aftermarket or original. Thank you.
You're probably not going to be able to find original parts, at least at a reasonable cost. The switches, you can probably find modern replacements at Allparts.com .
I wouldn't worry about the bridge cover...most of them have been long gone for years.
If you're wanting to do a full restoration to the guitar, you probably should take it to a luthier that specializes in this kind of work. If you're really a stickler, some of the parts could be fabricated (but again, that's going to get expensive).

P&J pickup set for bass guitar. Which are the best? EMG? Seymour Duncan? Bartolini?
I'm upgrading the pickups on my Vox 3002 custom series bass, made in 1982 or there abouts. I think the pickups it comes with are Dimarzio - So don't wanna replace like for like. What would the various experts & know-it-alls out there recommend? I'm leaning towards active EMGs.
The bass has a brass nut, maple fretboard & a SOLID maple (I think) body. It's a beast but I wanna make it BEASTLIER!
Go for the EMGs. Thay are good pickups.
