El-guitar sounds: new effect pedal vs new amp?
I have an Ibanez GIO GSA 60 guitar, a Boss OD-20 effect pedal and a Peavey Rage 158 (15w) amp, and I just can't get the sounds I want. I am going to buy either another effect pedal (like a Line6 2.0 or Pocket Pod) or a new amplifier, but I'm not sure which one to get. Will a new amp or a new effect pedal give the sounds I want (Like Fade to black, Canon Rock, Crazy Train etc)?
And also, what amps or effect pedals do you recommend?

Your guitar and amp both need replacing, but getting a new guitar with a better sound will cost you a lot of money for very little improvement (as you'll still have a poor amp).
I recommend replacing the amp. Since you have a great and versatile distortion, you don't need an amp with that feature. Look for something with one or more 10" or 12" speakers. If you want to play in bands (even just jamming with drummers), look at something that's at LEAST 30 watts (solid-state) - preferably 50. If you get a valve amp, though, be aware that they're roughly 2.5x as loud as solid-state amps of identical wattage.
Try to get an amp with reverb built in - that will go a long way towards helping you get classic sounds. If you can get other built-in effects, so much the better.
On a conservative budget, you'd probably be best served by a modeling amplifier - in other words, an amp that imitates several different classic amps. The Roland Cube 60 is one such amp. You can also look at the Vox AD series, Marshall Valvestate (not modeling, but has effects built in), or even better: a Line6 Spider. In my humble opinion, Spiders are the kings of modeling amps.
